The Culture and Community Spirit

and INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The Culture and Community Spirit and INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM is the Alberta Governments grant program to assist Alberta NGOs who are involved in International Development projects. It used to be the Alberta Wildrose Foundation. The money comes from Alberta Lottery funds. RFTF has a great relationship with this program and has been able to access funds for an amazing number and variety of projects over the years. We can apply once per year and so to increase the access we engage Rotary Clubs in international projects and are able to apply for CIP funds through them as well. It is a very valuable partner for us and the people of Ethiopia.

Funds from Wildrose and then CIP have helped to:

  - Build the Girls Hostel in Dhebiti

  - Establish feeding programs in the Dandi Gudina School in Dhebeti

  - Establish micro financing to purchase 300 steers to 150 women for fattening  and income generation and provision of veterinary meds and equipment.

  - To build Grinding mills and grain stores to 3 Kereyu villages to empower women and provide income and food security.

  - To provide safe, easily accessible drinking water to the community of Seke.

  - To purchase an X-ray machine and finance an upgrade of the Grarbet clinic in Butajera to hospital status.

  - To build a health post in Didimtu

  - To build a Teachers Residence in Didimtu.

  - To Construct a school at Amero Kele that is impervious to Termites.

Applications are currently in for financial support with the Didimtu Water expansion Project and the construction of the replacement Primary School in Didimtu. Also the purchaser of solar infrastructure to pump water in the town of Seke... We are waiting.
